More than £18,000 has been raised for four Richmond charities after their employees and volunteers' marathon walk last weekend.

Citizens Advice Richmond, Richmond Borough Mind, Richmond AID and Ruils work to help residents facing financial difficulty, mental health crisis, food poverty and disability among other issues.

Ruils chief executive Cathy Maker said: "Collaborating with three other fantastic local charities in this challenge is a great way to raise awareness and inform people in Richmond that we are still here to listen, support and help where it is needed throughout this pandemic."

The challenge saw 30 participants – including all four chief executives – walking 26.2 miles across the capital in socially distanced groups no greater than six.

Donations can still be made on each of the charities' online fundraising pages.

Route

Starting at 8am in front of the iconic London Eye, they hiked past famous London landmarks including the Houses of Parliament, Battersea Power Station and Kew Gardens.

The high tide at Richmond, posted an obstacle for some, but they persevered, ending at the Prince of Wales, East Molesey for a well deserved winter warmer.

All funds raised will go directly to the charities and fund their services in Richmond.
