Celebrities react with joy at Park Lane Stables news
Celebrities and local community groups have reacted with joy at news that Park Lane Stables will soon be returning home.
Actor Rob Brydon and impressionist Rory Bremner, key figures in the original campaign to save the stables, took to social media to express their delight after the RDA charity announced a sale has been agreed on their bid to buy back their home.
Mr Brydon retweeted the news to his over 2 million followers with his comment "here's some good news" plus a smiley face emoji, while Mr Bremner wrote: "This is such good news and hopefully a Happy Ending" with a raft of horse emojis, clapping hands, and a heart.
Brydon, who lives in the area and is known for his role on Gavin and Stacey and as the presenter of Would I Lie To You, helped raise the profile of a campaign to save the stables earlier this year via his appearance on Good Morning Britain in which he called the stables "a force for good."
Bremner also played a key role in publicising the campaign through videos of his impressions and via his social media accounts which have thousands of followers.
Broadcaster Nick Luck, who played a key role in getting the support of the racing community behind the stables, said it was "very positive news."
"A long journey, but the end is in sight - keeping fingers crossed," he wrote.
Other groups and members of Teddington's community also expressed their joy that the stables are set to return when the exchange goes through.
Volunteer Park Ranger Cathy Cooper called it "the best and most uplifting news I have heard for a long long time!"
"Well Done to all involved and for being patient during this difficult time," she said.
Lottie Walker of Teddington Theatre Club wrote "this has made me so happy!"
The Teddington Society said it was "fantastic news," adding: "Congratulations to everyone who has been working to make this happen."
Twickenham MP Munira Wilson said: "I am delighted that the wonderful Park Lane Stables will be returning to Teddington where they have been greatly missed.
"Natalie and the team provide vital support to those with disabilities, both locally & beyond.
"Thanks to all those who donated to help them secure the site."
Nub News looks forward to welcoming the stables home and will keep you updated on the progress of the sale.
