Families, community groups and veterans are being invited to take part in a special programme of summer activities at The Poppy Factory in Richmond.

A series of fun and affordable family afternoons will run during the holidays, offering children, young people and parents the chance to explore the unique story of The Poppy Factory through a range of interactive activities.

Taking place on 22 July, 4 August and 20 August, the family activity afternoons include treasure hunts, poppy-making and creative challenges.

Tickets are £5 for adults, with up to two children (aged 7+) admitted free with each adult. Visitors can also enjoy hot and cold drinks and cakes in the on-site café.

In addition to the family sessions, hosted discovery visits will run throughout the summer.

Groups of 25 or more booking to visit in July or August will receive a 20% discount on both tickets and refreshments.

Non-profit community organisations in Richmond upon Thames are also being offered use of the visitor centre free of charge on Mondays, to host their own meetings or workshops during the summer period.

The Poppy Factory is also calling on veterans from the Armed Forces community, particularly those based in London, to consider volunteering.

Veterans are encouraged to support activities and share their experiences of military life with visiting groups.

The summer programme helps support the Factory's national Veteran and Family Services, which last year assisted more than 1,100 members of the Armed Forces community on their journey to employment.

Amanda Shepard, Chief Executive of The Poppy Factory, said: "Summer is a great time to make new connections in our community.

"We're looking forward to welcoming many different visitors this year, from adults with school-age children looking for an informative and affordable afternoon out, to local groups who need flexible space for their own activities.

"If you haven't yet discovered all that we have to offer in the heart of Richmond, now is the perfect time to get in touch."
