Water supplies return across Richmond after burst pipe
By Nub News Reporter 28th Sep 2026
Water supplies are returning to homes across parts of Richmond and south west London after a burst pipe left some customers without water or with low pressure.
Thames Water said at 2:05pm today (Monday, 28 September) that, having rerouted water around the affected area, all customers should now begin to see water flowing from their taps.
However, residents may experience lower-than-normal water pressure or intermittent disruption during busy periods while the repair remains ongoing.
The affected postcode areas include TW10 and TW16, as well as parts of Kingston, Merton, Sutton, Wandsworth and Croydon.
The affected postcodes are:
- CR4
- KT1
- KT10
- KT12
- KT2
- KT3
- KT5
- KT6
- KT7
- KT8
- SM4
- SW16
- SW17
- SW18
- SW19
- SW20
- TW10
- TW16
Thames Water said its teams are now assessing the damaged pipe and planning the next stages of the repair.
The company said crews will be "working around the clock" to fix the burst.
It warned that, due to the location of the burst and the complexity of the repair, it is likely to take some time to complete.
The water company said pressure and supplies should return to normal once the repair has been completed.
As a precaution, Thames Water is continuing to deliver bottled water to customers who are registered as water dependent on its free Priority Services Register.
The company previously said it had located the broken pipe and begun rerouting water around the area, with customers in Surbiton among those expected to see their supplies return.
Thames Water apologised for the disruption and thanked affected residents for their patience and understanding.
Update to follow.
