The borough's high streets – and even the skies – will fall silent on Monday with a shut down for the Queen's funeral.

The official Bank Holiday means that, generally, businesses across the area will be closed to allow staff to pay their respects.

While Heathrow has cancelled around 100 flights at the time of the funeral.

The only exception will be the area's pubs with most expect to open as normal, although some, such as Wetherspoon, will wait until 1pm.

Many shops, businesses and venues that would normally open on a Bank Holiday will be closed.

All the major supermarkets, food and national coffee shop chains, are closing. Asda and Co-op stores are due to open from 5pm.

Most national retail chains will shut outlets across Richmond borough and small independent stores will follow suit.

Petersham Nurseries and the Squires Garden Centre in Twickenham will be shut.

Supermarket petrol stations will be closed throughout the day, although some will re-open at 5pm.

The Council offices will be closed, while people have been offered the opportunity to leave floral tributes on the main driveway at York House, in Twickenham.

Household bin collections have been postponed, while the Townmead Recycling centre will be closed.

Libraries and sports centres will close on Monday while Pools on the Park will only open from 7am to 10am.

The area's entertainment venues, such as the Odeon in Richmond and Richmond Theatre as well as Cineworld, Feltham, are closed.

Similarly, historic houses and visitor attractions will close for the day including Kew Gardens, Ham House, and Marble Hill House.

Even the skies will fall quiet as Heathrow has cancelled some flights over London for the period of the funeral and two minutes silence.

Around 180 flights will be disrupted – with 100 cancelled - to minimise noise over the capital.

Around 15 per cent of its 12,000 flights due to take off or land will be disrupted 'to avoid noise'.

This is designed to ensure the skies will be quiet during the two-minute national silence as the Queen's funeral nears its end shortly before noon.

McDonald's is closing all UK restaurants until at least 5pm, while virtually all Greggs, Pret a Manger and Costa Coffee outlets will close.

Pizza Hut will be open from 2pm, while Domino's will start taking orders from noon. Ask restaurants will open from 3pm.

GP surgeries can close with people advised to use the NHS 111 service.
