Police in Richmond have alerted residents about a "dangerous fake NHS text" which incorrectly tells people they can apply for the coronavirus vaccine.

North Richmond Police shared a poster showing how the hoax works and advised people to report it to Action Fraud if they encounter it.

The force said: "There is a scam circulating which starts with a text & advises the user that they are eligible to apply for the vaccine & to click on the link in the text message.

"The user is then led to a webpage, which looks very convincing."
