By The Editor   19th Sep 2020

A banned driver has been caught behind the wheel of an unlicensed lorry in Richmond.

The motorist fled to Twickenham after he was spotted by officers.

When he was found they discovered that he was disqualified from driving and without an operator's licence.

The vehicle had three faulty tyres and issues with its speed-recording tachograph.

The Met Police's Roads and Transport unit said: "Out in Richmond when the driver of this 18T skip lorry didn't want to hang round & made off on foot ðŸƒ"ï¸

"He was found nearby in Twickenham & will be reported for a number of offences.

"He was a disqualified driver so the vehicle was seized. It was also uninsured.

"There were other ilssues which the other half of our joint team @DVSAEnforcement dealt with:

â— Defective tachograph

â— Tachograph out of calibration

â— No operator licence

â— 3 x defective tyres."
