An award-winning independent bakery has opened its doors at Richmond station, marking its eighth site.

Heidi Bakery began serving customers from its new spot on the station concourse on 19 February, bringing its range of handmade pastries, savouries, salads and cakes to one of south-west London's busiest transport hubs.

All products are made from scratch at the Heidi Studio in Windsor and delivered daily to the new Richmond shop.

Heidi say that Richmond station is a key interchange for the District line, London Overground and National Rail services, acting as a gateway for thousands of commuters and visitors each day.

Following a refurb to the front and interior of Richmond station last year, Heidi's new shop has been incorporated as a key part of the project, with access from both the ticket hall and Kew Road.

Co-owner Edward Durkin said: "Richmond is such a beautiful town with a wonderful mix of community and visitors, and the station acts as a major gateway for thousands of people every day.

"We wanted to bring something high-quality and independent to this nationally significant hub. Our goal is to offer commuters and locals a proper, handmade alternative to the usual high-street chains — right in the heart of town and their commute."

The bakery arrives in Richmond with five Great Taste Awards to its name, including a prestigious three-star rating for its Chocolate Hazelnut Cruffin and a two-star rating for its Chocolate Mirror Cake.

Durkin added: "There are lots of features I love about this new shop, but my favourite has to be the nine-metre marble counter running along its length — beautifully displaying the food made daily by our team."

Heidi Richmond is open seven days a week, from 6:30am on weekdays, and can be found at the station entrance on Kew Road.

Customers can also place pre-orders via the Heidi app through the company's website.
