As the café and coffee shop hokey cokey in Twickenham continues apace, Caffe Nero is set to shut its doors, however at least two new alternatives are opening.

It has been suggested on social media that Caffe Nero on London Road is being forced to close its doors following a hike in the rent by the landlord.

The news of its closure coincides with the opening of a new bubble tea café. Multea Choice opened its doors in Church Street with a massive price cut promotion over the weekend.

Separately, the coffee shop chain Puccino's is opening at outlet at Twickenham Station on November 9, which is around the same day that Caffe Nero goes.

Puccino's, which opened its first store in 1995 on Putney Railway Station, is linked to rail stations across the area and through London.

Caffe Nero said: "The store (closure) in Twickenham is just a straightforward end of lease expiry.

"We're investigating other sites in Twickenham to continue operating and serving our customers in the area. As a group, there is still a Harris+Hoole in Twickenham."
