A 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of actual bodily harm, allowing to be carried in a stolen vehicle, theft and failing to appear at court.

They remain in police custody at this time.

Chief Superintendent Simon Ovens from the Roads and Transport Policing Command said: "This incident highlights the bravery and courage that is at the core of what it means to be a police officer in the Metropolitan Police.

"I am incredibly proud that we have officers like these two constables who uphold our values both in uniform and out.

"What they did was incredibly brave and clearly underscores that our officers never know what they are going to face or how a situation will develop yet day in and day out they continue to face that risk to keep Londoners safe."
