Power cut leaves Richmond homes in the dark
By Cesar Medina 19th Aug 2026
UK Power Networks has restored power to homes in the Richmond Hill area following a "fault".
Around 74 homes experienced a power outage yesterday morning (Wednesday, 19 August) after a fault occurred on an underground electricity cable.
It was not until 1:30am today (Thursday, 20 August) that the company managed to repair the issue and restore power to the affected customers.
A specialist team was sent to pinpoint the fault and dig down to expose the cabling for repairs.
The fault was located, with traffic management set up to allow engineers to safely excavate the ground and carry out repairs.
The company initially became aware of the power cut at around 8:13am yesterday, with 74 customers affected and four reports made to the company.
