Richmond Tutors Launches New Mental Math and English Mastery Classes for Primary Students
By Louis Hancock 9th Apr 2026
First Class Learning Richmond are now offering Mental Math Mastery Classes for Elementary and Primary school students (Year 1 to Year 6), commencing next week!
These classes will comprise of Mental Math worksheets, initially based on school year and age and then working up to ability status.
The classes will also incorporate Multiplication Times Table and Division Mastery, which are not based on age or school year but on ability and work ethic. Up to twelve times table learning is covered, but there is an option to learn up to fifteen times table for students who want to be more challenged.
Progress tests and Assessment tests are given to each student, with practice worksheets provided for any gaps in conceptual knowledge.
Former International Corporate and Securities Lawyer and Richmond Centre Manager Peggy Zaman, who has been educated in and tutored in Australia, India, USA and the UK said, "Unfortunately, elementary and primary school mental math is of a much lower standard here in the UK, as is in most western countries. With our General Maths program for primary (specifically in the Richmond & Ham centres,) we prioritise the ability to do calculations mentally, using a combination of teaching methods, including memorisation, Maths strategies, shortcuts and quick tips. This improves accuracy and speed, which is much needed not just for secondary and higher-level Maths learning but in the general day-to-day practical life. Offering these concentrated standalone Mental Math classes is just an added feature and bonus to our Maths program."
The Richmond Centre is also offering a Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling Mastery Class for Elementary and Primary School students.
Similarly, this program is based initially on school year and age, thereby working to the student's ability. Explanation and worksheets will be provided for grammar, punctuation and spelling patterns with regular progress and assessment tests.
Centre Manager Peggy Z emphasises, "If a student's first language is not English, it is even more important to start them early, as it allows the student more time to grasp the complex concepts of English grammar, punctuation and spelling."
Furthermore, Peggy says, "Maths and English Language are mandatory GCSE subjects which must be passed in order to pursue higher level education (such as A-levels or B-Tech) and is necessary for almost all job applications. Hence, it is important to get your child started as early as possible, preferably in elementary school."
Both programs commence next week and end July 2026 at the end of term with the option of continuing in Summer and/or Autumn when school re-commences.
First Class Learning Richmond offer small group classes with very affordable pricing options. Email [email protected] or whatsapp or call them on 07399254221 for class timings and prices.
