Council tax hikes and bus lane fines could be in store for those brave enough to play Monopoly's latest edition for Richmond, as well as the chance to pass by the journalists at Nub News!

The votes are in and Richmond Nub News is poised to gain a coveted position on Monopoly Richmond Upon Thames.

There's no collecting £200 for your bets yet (we'd be sent to jail if we said there were) but the company said it is considering every suggestion and nothing is off limits.

Winning Moves UK's Custom Games Executive George Shrimpton said: "Richmond Nub News is certainly - from what we can see from nominations – in the running to feature on a square all on its own.

"We shall be putting the board together after Easter and will start the intricate design and production process soon after that.

"The game will be in the shops in October of this year in time for Christmas."

Monopoly received more than 6,000 votes and nominations for landmarks and cards they wanted to see included in the game.

"This was way beyond any expectation," said Shrimpton. "A huge thank you to everyone who sent in nominations."

Winning Moves UK is making the new edition under licensing from Hasbro.

It says it is going through each and every suggestion and considering them all.

"Everything is up for grabs," added Shrimpton.

Richmond Park, Kew Palace and Hampton Court Palace (brown squares) are among the favourites to land places on the board.

Other suggestions via on the official Richmond upon Thames Monopoly Facebook site

have included a heated debate over hyphens and changing Community Chest and Chance card to 'Pay Council Tax Hike' and a 'Bus lane fine'.

Paul Jones wishes to see Old Kent Road replaced with Ham House, "Because it's old".

Karen Devereux suggested: "England beat France at the 6 Nations, win £x. And please don't forget to mention the local Parkruns."

There were also calls to replace the train stations with local parks such as Richmond Park, Bushy Park, Kew Gardens and Barnes Common.

With regards to the train stations, Winning Moves UK said: "We are considering making the four train stations a 'travel' or 'park' set.

"The reason the train set may switch to a travel or park theme is because there are not four main line stations in the borough to choose from.

"The makers back in the 1930s were spoilt for choice as regards main railway stations in the capital to choose from."

Shrimpton said: "We are sure we will be spoilt for choice putting this new edition together.

"Richmond-upon-Thames is blessed with great cherished and beloved landmarks."
