Christmas Kitchen Disco - in aid of local disabled children's charity, Skylarks. Friday, December 4 from 5pm.

Get out the glitter ball, don your favourite party outfit and hit the dance floor!

Or should that be the kitchen floor? Either way, the whole family will be dancing to some funky Christmas tunes with a special event to kickstart the festive season.

DJ Hazel Butterfield (Riverside Radio) will host the Christmas Kitchen Disco - in aid of Skylarks, an online event that promises to be a fun way to start your family Christmas.

She said: "There's been little in the way of good news this year and lots of traditional events have been cancelled so we're inviting families to join in, have fun and kick start their Christmas the right way - with great songs, classic floor fillers, and a bit of Christmas cheese.

"Coronavirus restrictions don't need to stop us from dressing up and having fun at home with our families. And, by buying a ticket for just £5 per household, our families can support a great local charity at the same time."

Hazel, a Twickenham resident, is hosting the one-hour online event via Zoom. She'll be DJing from her own kitchen with her family, dogs and support bubble friends there to lead the way on the dancefloor.

Tickets cost just £5 per household and all proceeds from the event go to Skylarks charity - a Richmond upon Thames-based charity that provides activities and therapies for children with disabilities and additional needs.

Skylarks chair Jennifer Peters said: "2020 has been incredibly challenging for all of us and an unimaginable year for all the children with additional needs who make up the Skylark's community.

"We know that Christmas is going to be a bit different this year and the kitchen disco is a great way to kick off the Christmas season for the entire family, put on those amazing Christmas jumpers, grab that hairbrush or spoon as your 'microphone', and sing along at the top of your lungs to your favourite Christmas music while raising money for a wonderful cause.

"We couldn't be more thrilled to be a part of this fantastic socially distanced event which will help all of our fantastic kids and their families."

Tickets are £5 per household via Eventbrite.
