'Tier 2' lockdown restrictions are being enforced across London this weekend.

It means from midnight on Friday people will not be able visit other friends and family in their homes or in other indoor spaces, including pubs and restaurants.

Use of public transport is also discouraged under the Tier 2 measures.

Schools, universities, places of worship and businesses will remain open.

London MPs including Richmond Park's Sarah Olney are being briefed this morning by Care Minister Helen Whately about the change in the capital's alert level.

Sarah tweeted: "It has been confirmed this morning that London will be placed on Tier 2 restrictions from midnight tomorrow.

"What this means for Richmond Park residents is no mixing of households indoors. Rule of six and social distancing applies to private gardens and outdoor spaces.

"Pubs and restaurants remain open, but no mixing of households inside and 10pm curfew remains."
