Great news for history buffs and anyone interested in the town's heritage - the Museum of Richmond is reopening in a week.

It tells the story of Richmond from prehistory, through its rise in prominence as a royal residence in the medieval period to its modern status as a centre of the arts and fashion.

The museum is on the second floor of the Old Town Hall building on the corner of Hill Street and Whittaker Avenue.

The team said: "We are so excited to welcome you back to our wonderful museum!

"Please book a free timed entry ticket to visit the museum with your household or your COVID-19 bubble.

"This ticket will allow up to 8 people within your household or bubble to visit the Museum for 45 minutes; if you would like more time for your visit, please book two consecutive slots.

"Please note that wearing face coverings at indoor venues such as our museum is mandatory from Saturday, August 8 and so we ask that everyone over the age of 11 wears a face covering during their visit."

What's on?

An exhibition which started in February on the 500 years of Queen's Road will resume.

"From farmland owned by Tudor courtiers to the site of modern social housing, Queen's Road offers a glimpse into the ways society was changing in Richmond," the museum said.

Samplers and patchwork sessions run as soon as the museum opens on August 11 until Friday, August 14.
