Infection rates in Richmond as 6-week national lockdown begins

A new national lockdown began today (Wednesday, January 6) amid a backdrop of fast spreading Covid-19.

It was calculated that one in 50 people in the country currently have the coronavirus.

Residents have been urged to stay at home as much as possible over the next six weeks to reduce the number of people who catch the virus and need hospital treatment, with the NHS under huge strain.

Around 200 Richmond residents have been testing positive every day.

These are the latest infection rates and number of new cases in each neighbourhood in Richmond over the seven days up to January 1, as recorded on the government website.

Ham – infection rate of 1,220 new cases per 100,000 people (67 cases recorded in past seven days)

Heathfield – 871 cases per 100,000 people (94 cases)

Queen's Road – 769 cases per 100,000 people (51 cases)

Strawberry Hill – 754 cases per 100,000 people (47 cases)

East Sheen North – 735 cases per 100,000 people (67 cases)

Whitton – 731 cases per 100,000 people (61 cases)

Nursery Lands and Hampton North – 707 cases per 100,000 people (67 cases)

Twickenham North – 694 cases per 100,000 people (49 cases)

Hampton Village – 688 cases per 100,000 people (71 cases)

Mortlake and South Barnes – 680 cases per 100,000 people (79 cases)

St Margarets – 644 cases per 100,000 people (43 cases)

North Sheen – 636 cases per 100,000 people (78 cases)

Teddington Central – 627 cases per 100,000 people (46 cases)

Twickenham Marble Hill – 625 cases per 100,000 people (46 cases)

Hampton Hill – 620 cases per 100,000 people (43 cases)

North Barnes – 602 cases per 100,000 people (61 cases)

Teddington North – 594 cases per 100,000 people (43 cases)

Twickenham Town – 587 cases per 100,000 people (47 cases)

Twickenham West – 586 cases per 100,000 people (65 cases)

Hampton Wick and Teddington East – 586 cases per 100,000 people (67 cases)

Richmond Park, Sheen Gate and Petersham – 528 cases per 100,000 people (38 cases)

Richmond Central – 436 cases per 100,000 people (32 cases)

Kew Gardens – 417 cases per 100,000 people (42 cases)
