Five hundred Richmond residents jabbed at Saturday's walk-in vaccine centre
Five hundred people walked in for a Covid vaccination at Richmond Adult Community College on Saturday in part of the council's effort to tackle the borough's low take-up of the jab.
The clinic was one of a host of pop-up vaccination clinics that are being organised across the borough. This weekend there will be another walk-in clinic over in Twickenham.
Five hundred people received the Pfizer or AstraZeneca jab at the clinic which was open between 10am and 6pm.
The clinic was held following pleas from the council for Richmond residents to get their vaccinations.
Richmond's uptake is still behind the rest of the country - with 75.5% of residents having had a dose of the vaccine compared to an 87.2% average across the UK.
Under 50s in particular are being urged to get their second Covid-19 vaccination amid evidence the area has fallen behind the rest of London.
As of Sunday, July 11, 137,281 people in Richmond upon Thames had received their first doses and 101,796 people had received a second dose.
In total, 239,077 vaccinations have been given in the borough.
- 61% of those aged 90 and above have now had at least one vaccine.
- 1% of those aged 18-24 have now had at least one dose, up from 55.17% on July 1.
