A motorist is set to appear in court over driving a van while disqualified in Richmond.

Trade and business vehicles are banned from entering the park and drivers can be given a £50 fine if caught.

The only exemptions, under the Royal Parks and Other Open Spaces Regulations 1997, are for:

  • taxis
  • vehicles in use for conducting business with a park resident/ business
  • vehicles in use to help someone who has broken down in the park.

Royal Parks Police said the "unauthorised van" driver was stopped and will appear in court next month.

"Whilst conducting speed checks in Richmond Park, officers stopped an unauthorised van," the force said on Thursday, January 21.

"After many lies, we soon found out that the driver was disqualified.

"Arrested and later charged to appear at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court on 22/2/21 #VanSeized."
