UPDATE: Cyclist taken to hospital after car leaves road in Richmond Park

There has been a crash in Richmond Park this morning.

According to a witness a cyclist has been injured. The crash involved a car smashing through barriers near Ham Gate.

They said: "Bad crash in Richmond Park this morning 9am. Female cyclist also injured. Police in attendance. Top of hill from Ham Gate. Car descended hill and went straight through barriers."

David Underdown wrote on Twitter: "Didn't see how it happened, but as I passed through Ham Cross in Richmond Park about 10 minutes ago there was a cyclist down at the junction (Royal Parks Police already with her and she seemed to be sitting up and talking) and a car had gone through the barrier at the bottom of dip."

He added: "Car was over the Sudbrook, had come to rest on the grass a few metres on the up slope the other side. Two blokes standing by the car chatting."

We'll update this story with information from the emergency services as soon as we have it.

Royal Parks Police told the Richmond Cycling Campaign: "Will post an update as soon as we can. Just talking to officers on scene to get more details."
