Woman 'seriously injured' in A316 collision in Richmond

A woman in her 50s suffered serious injuries in a collision in Richmond today.

It happened on the A316 near Richmond Athletic Ground at 4.30pm (Tuesday, March 30).

Richmond Police said: "Police were called to Twickenham Road, Richmond, shortly after 16.30hrs to reports of a collision between a pedestrian and a car.

"Officers attended along with paramedics from London Ambulance Service (LAS).

"A woman, in her 50s, was found seriously injured. She was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital.

"The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is helping police with their enquiries."

The busy road has been closed in both directions by officers at the scene. Police said it would remain shut into the evening.

It is unclear whether there are more casualties.

There was debris from a car and a bicycle at the scene of the accident.

The force added: "The road closures at Richmond Circus to Twickenham Bridge will likely be in place for at least a few more hours.

"Anyone who witnessed the accident is urged to call us on 101 quoting reference CAD5393/30Mar21."
