A young girl was pulled to safety from the bridge over the A316 in St Margarets by two fast-thinking individuals.

Lisa Buckley wants to track down the two men she classes as heroes so she can say "a massive thank you".

She wrote a vivid eyewitness account of the incident which happened last weekend in a post on social media.

I've never done anything like this before but I want to try and find two men with the help of Facebook. The men involved are what I would class as a heroes.

I was on my way to Bracknell with friends on Saturday (November 14) around 1.30pm, I had just turned off the St Margarets roundabout onto the A316, when we were flagged down to stop our car, we had no idea what was about to unfold!

I was thinking maybe there had been a car accident or someone had been run over, which would have been bad enough but that wasn't it, it was far worse!

A young girl was on the bridge that crosses over the A-road, sitting on the edge. Well, to say we were in shock is an understatement.

The scene unfolded in front of our eyes with people on their phones, stopping traffic and, like us, in shock but there was one man who decided to go up the stairs of the bridge and talk to her, which was scary for us watching it, so god knows what he must have been feeling.

Then from nowhere a man on the opposite side of the bridge was going up the stairs at quite a quick pace and we sat there thinking 'Oh god no, please don't' because if she sees him she may jump but he read the situation so right. He could see that the girl's attention was firmly on the other man talking to her, so he literally ran up behind her and grabbed her off the edge and just like that he saved a young girl's life!

So together these two gentlemen showed compassion and bravery and without even thinking about it.

Now that young girl will hopefully get the help she so desperately needs because of the bravery of two men that she doesn't even know.

The man who actually grabbed her off the edge of the bridge just walked back down the other side, jumped the railings and got back into his car and drove off.

So I would love to find them to say a massive thank you on behalf of all parents, carers and anyone that this touches.

Mental health is real and nobody knows what's going on in people's minds as we walk along with a smile on our face, when really behind that smile something more serious is usually going on.

Sorry for such a long statement but it really has affected me and probably many more people there that day and also I really would love to find these heroes to say a massive thank you. So come on, let's find them. Please share because this could have been your child.

If you have been affected by the issues in this story, or need someone to speak with, you can call the charity Samaritans on 116 123. If you prefer to write down how you're feeling, or worried about being overheard on the phone, email Samaritans at [email protected]
